It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Matthew L. Burman, M.D.  Dr. Burman was the founding partner of Burman and Zuckerbrod Ophthalmology Associates and a pioneer in ophthalmic surgery.  He was among the first ophthalmic surgeons in southeast Michigan to perform CK surgery for presbyopia.  Dr. Burman passed away on April 15, 2019.

A graduate of Howard University’s College of Medicine, Dr. Burman completed his internship in internal medicine at Georgetown University Hospital.  He then completed a post-graduate program in ophthalmology the prestigious Kresge Eye Institute at Wayne State University.  Dr. Burman served as an ophthalmologist in the U.S. Air Force Reserve and was certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.  He was also a Fellow of the American College of Eye Surgeons and the International College of Surgeons.

Dr. Matthew L. Burman will be missed by many.  His high medical standards and dedication to top-quality patient care will leave lasting impact on his patients, coworkers, and medical colleagues.  Dr. Burman’s legacy of excellence will continue to serve as a model for Burman and Zuckerbrod Ophthalmology Associates.
